This study was conducted in 2024, in the Kabaw region, located in the northwestern part of Libya, within a long mountainous extension known as the Nafusa Mountains, this study aimed to survey and classification of the wild medicinal plants species, which grow in the region. The survey showed the presence of 119 species of medicinal plants belong to 90 genera and distributed to 36 families, including 34 families belong to the angiosperm plants and two families the gymnosperm plants. Almost of these, plants are used to disease treatment which, knows as folk medicine in this region. In addition, the result showed that, the medicine plants are distributing to nine species, five families and eight genera of monocotyledons, while the dicotyledons 107 species, 29 families and 80 genera, and gymnosperm plants have 3 species, two families and two genera. As well as the forms of life were identified according to the growth form analysis, the herbaceous plants were founded 64.71%, and shrubs 17.65%, sub-shrub 10.92% and finally trees around 6.72%. Additionally, the results indicated that, 52.94% of the medicine plants were perennials, while the annual plants about 44.54% and biennial plants 2.5%. The largest families are collected the composite family with 17 species. The study concluded to some of recommendations; increasing environmental awareness among citizens to preserve the ecological diversity of medicinal plants, decrease various human activities that negatively effect on the vegetation cover and to encourage the cultivation of medicinal plants.
