The Effectiveness of Voluntary Work in Enhancing Social Capital

Abstract

Volunteer work is a characteristic of civilized societies, and it has multiple effects and benefits, which include solving many social problems such as poverty, unemployment, and caring for orphans and widows. In addition, it develops a sense of belonging and love for the homeland for the volunteer, and other benefits and effects that are too numerous to mention.This study aimed to investigate the extent to which volunteer work contributes to strengthening social capital, as well as to identify the nature, importance, and components of volunteer work. It also sought to understand social capital and its importance to volunteer work, recognizing that the two complement each other. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach, describing the phenomenon, analyzing data, and deconstructing and analyzing texts to arrive at conclusions. The most prominent finding was that volunteer work plays a significant role in strengthening social capital.
